Club San Lorenzo de Almagro, is an Argentine football club based in Boedo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, gained international fame when Pope Francis became the first pontiff from the Americas to lead the Roman Catholic Church. Pope Francis is a card-carrying member(Member ID No. 88235) of San Lorenzo and is known to be a passionate supporter of the club. Pope has paid his dues annually since 2008, even remaining a member during his 12 year papacy in Vatican City. San Lorenzo won Argentine championship in 2013 and their first Copa Libertadores in 2014, immediately after Pope Francis was elected as Pope.
